Dr. Rafat Amari was born in Jordan in 1943. He comes from an Arab Greek Orthodox background. Dr. Amari met the Lord as his personal Savior in 1964 while reading the New Testament in Arabic and while studying medicine in the city of Padua, Italy. Dr. Amari returned to Jordan after graduating from the University as a medical doctor. He then joined the Free Evangelical Church in Amman, Jordan. There, he married Rima, a fellow Jordanian who had just returned from Lancashire, Great Britain, after her graduation from Capernwray Bible School. In 1982, the family moved to the suburbs of Amman and joined the Baptist church.
While there, Dr. Amari felt the calling to begin ministering within the body of Christ. Consequently, he began preaching in various Christian Evangelical Churches in Jordan.
Imprisoned for two days after sharing his faith with Muslims, Dr. Amari was warned by the secret police that if he was to be caught evangelizing Muslims again, they would present him to a military court where he would face a long term jail sentence.
Dr. Amari felt he could no longer freely evangelize Muslims in his own country of origin. Before long, the Lord put on his heart immigrate and begin a major evangelistic effort towards Muslims from an outside country. In 1989, Dr. Amari, his wife and five children immigrated to the United States.
While living in the United States, Dr. Amari continued traveling to different countries, especially in the Muslim world. He conducted prayer conferences throughout different regions where he trained coordinators on how to set up prayer and evangelistic home meetings in order to evangelize Muslims.
In 1986, Dr. Amari founded The Continuous Flame, a Christian International, non-denominational prayer and evangelistic ministry. The Continuous Flame organizes prayer conferences in numerous countries all over the world. Their central goal is praying for revival to come about in various countries and to open restricted countries to the message of the Gospel. The Continuous Flame evangelistic ministry focuses on training Christians on how to evangelize their co-citizens, especially those belonging to other faiths such as Islam.
While living in Jordan, Dr. Amari felt the Lord’s call for him to embark on a deep study into Islam in order to be able to refute it. After twenty- five years of in-depth research, Dr. Amari obtained an immense and scholarly knowledge of Islam.
